Services
Prenatal education, labour doula, massage therapy.
My prerogative
As modern day childbirth has become more of a medical procedure and less of a natural process, it is one of my objectives to dispel the fears and educate families on unnecessary medical interventions associated with birth and empower women in knowing it is a normal, natural, healthy, family event. Whether you choose to attend my prenatal classes, hiring me as a doula, ask me questions surrounding parenting or are indulging in massage. I intend to share with you what I have learned and pay it forward.
Why I believe I can help you?
As birth has become more of a medical event (and thank goodness for medicine, as it most definitely has it's time and place) and less of a natural process many families have no idea what to expect other than what they see on TV or hear from their friends. Fortunately for you, birth is not what you see on ER or TLC. Birth is a normal and healthy process which takes time and a combination of emotional, physical and important informational support.
As a doula I can provide you with the support you may need prior to your birth and during the birthing process. As a prenatal educator I can provide you with information regarding the common options available, medical interventions discussing the benefits, risks and alternatives, local community resources and much much more. As a massage student I can help you relax and work through common problems such as sciatica and carpel tunnel.
How I Practice
I encourage families to freely learn and explore all of the choices that are right for them. Whether planning a home or hospital birth, want medical or non-medical support, or are having a vaginal or caesarean delivery, those unique needs and desires are just that, they are your families and are fully supported.
A wise women once told me that "it was one of her main intentions to protect the memory of my birth, no matter where or how I choose to birth, making my baby's birthday a wonderful event!" I intend to pay it forward in honour of my doula.
